Sicilian Capers

June 17, 2010

We spotted them growing on the rock walls near our campsite in Avola a few weeks ago. Did you know capers were so beautiful in addition to being so delicious? If they were growing in my garden, I would have a hard time snipping the buds because the flowers are so gorgeous.

We saw caper bushes for the first time in April when we were in the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve in Israe. I too was very surprised at how beautiful the flowers were. I love your photograph.

They are really delicious and beautiful at the same time indeed! We see also them in the La Timpa natural reserve, close to Acireale (Catania)

This was my first glimpse of a caper on the bush, and the blossom. Wouldn't have ever known. Caught up with your blog today. Read your interview. Just wonderful!!

So cool! A caper is a bud? Never stopped to think about them. Other than the fact that they are so very tasty.

Wow, I had not idea they had such a lovely flower. And wow, to find them growing wild! YUM!

Wow! I love capers. Both the buds (the tiny things) and the fruits (the giant things they love so much in Spain). But I've never seen them blossoming...
