Collage Cards

September 6, 2008

We needed to come up with a quick gift for my aunt's birthday tomorrow so we decided to make her a set of collage cards. We have been reading a lot of Eric Carle and Lois Ehlert books lately so that was part of the inspiration (plus I happened to have a bunch of blank cards ready to be decorated!). A pair of scissors, a Pottery Barn Kids catalogue, glue sticks, blank cards with envelopes + a little creativity = an easy and colorful gift. I did most of the cards with some help from Noah, but my favorite one was the butterfly which he did all by himself.

The cards are beautiful and so creative. You are amazing! I haven't had any luck trying to get you via the cell phone. When you get service again give us a call.

You amaze me with all the crafty things you do with the kids. I always thought when I was a mom I'd be doing all this kind of stuff and instead I just end up frustrated with a big mess. Maybe I just need to wait for Nathan to be older. On the upside I love having him in the kitchen with me and he is actually helpful...win win. :) These would make some great x-mas gifts-- I might use your idea. :)

Those are really neat. What a great idea and a special gift.

I was really glad to hear you were all safe after the hurricane!

LOL- I love that you admitted to doing some!! Because I tried to have Mahlon do the collage/ decoupage flower vase the other day- talk about frustrating and a mess!! And then I ended up doing it myself while he watched cartoons ;) I think I even said something to Chris about how you do crafts with your kids and ours just don't 'get it'. I did save our holiday cards from last year to reuse for this years cards. I'm hoping this will be a fun craft and not become a giant holiday burden I end up stuck with. Ciao, K
