Charleston

April 14, 2008

A great weekend escape to Charleston. Grand houses, gardens, and spring every where. We started off Saturday with lunch at the Farmer's Market...yummy crepes while listening to live bluegrass music...they even dedicated a song to Camille (she charmed the fiddler while they were warming up). Then a trip to the Yorktown Aircraft Carrier at Patriot's Point. This was very exciting for Noah. Followed by dinner and a musical production of "Frog and Toad". A very busy first day. Sunday was spent walking around the city, playing in the park, riding the trolley, and visiting the Aquarium. And we ended both days with a stop at Paola's Gelato shop which was conviently located next to our hotel...makes us hope we get orders to Italy someday.

Man, I LOVE Charleston. Can't get there enough. In fact, haven't been there since, gee, I don't know when. Love the pictures and sounds like you guys are having a great time.

Jan, You should load up your family and head to Charleston...it is such a great family vacation spot...so many things to see and do. But the other option is to just grab a couple of friends and make it a girls trip...that's what I would love to do :)

Lucia, I remembered that last summer an Italian friend of mine went to Charleston for a wedding and was tickled by this gelateria named after a town near us in Sicily. I found the place online. It's called Gelateria Modica. http://www.gelateriamodica.com/index.html. Modica is famous for their funky, aztec chocolate which arrived with the Spanish invasion of Sicily. Anyway, my friend said it was delicioso! Next time you go you should check it out. Then, when you move to Sicily you can go have the real thing ;)

that's one place I didn't get to when we lived there. I only heard good things about it. :) I love the ice cream doorknob.
