Roman Wedding

February 19, 2010

Yes, the Coliseum was massive and impressive, but really it was the Roman brides and the Gladiators roaming in front of the Coliseum that captured my attention. The Gladiator guys leap around seeking out tourists eager to pay for photos. While an almost endless stream of brides pile out of fancy cars and parade to the front of the colliseum where they pose for photos. And then in one very amusing moment the bride and the gladiator seemed to collide right in front of us. When this Gladiator jumped in on the bridal shoot, I couldn't resist getting a shot. Flamboyant, glittery, entertaining, and one of my favorite Roman moments.

Thanks to Emily and her family's recent trip to Rome which triggered this little memory from our trip in September. If you are planning a family trip to Rome, be sure to check out their Rome reading list. Hungry for more travel posts? Visit Delicious Baby for Travel Photo Friday.

That scene reminds me of Hollywood Walk of Fame in LA where various people in costumes walk around and try to get tourists to take picture with them. :)

This is so funny. Exactly the same thing was happening when we were there. It was such a funny scene!

What a great scene to witness. Though the backdrop doesn't compare, it's very common to see wedding parties -- sometimes costumed -- here in Vegas. I've seen a few ceremonies in progress and always think: How lovely that I -- a jeans-clad visitor to the casino -- got to see these two tie the knot. Their parents didn't, but I do.

Thanks for the tip on the Rome reading list. I have been there two times and loved it both times. We are going in September for my husbands work. I can't wait.

That scene reminds me of a Vegas casino wedding. That could almost be straight out of Ceasar's Palace...

Fantastic - I love seeing brides - and brides with gladiators? Even Xavier would burst :)

I love to stop and watch wedding parties if I see them. There was one at the hotel in London where I stayed recently. It's nice to smile and share in their happiness
