A five hour surgery, but happily the news is good: no ovarian cancer. Recovering at home with matzo ball soup, books, the hazy comfort of pain meds, an amazing mother-in-law, an incredible husband, and two insanely adorable kids. All is good. So very good.

My shamefully late reply doesn't make my relief at this news any less heartfelt. So very glad to read this Lucia. Hope your road to recovery goes quickly and smoothly. And in case you are still looking for some recommendations for reading/viewing:
Have you watched the BBCs new Sherlock yet? Fabulous. Probably love it even more than Downton Abbey. If only there were more than a handful of episodes. I have not watched this yet, but my husband thinks I will really like the show Leverage. A suggestion from him after getting nightmares from Homeland. And then continuing to watch it (what is wrong with me?). As for books-what is coming to mind as good recovery reading is mostly those dystopian YA books that are so popular right now. My guilty pleasure. Or rather, one of many! Anyway: The Divergent books by Veronica Roth. Delirium books by Lauren Oliver. And the Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie. Wonderfully fluffy (I can't even remember which story line goes with which book), yet thoroughly engaging. Not so fluffy, but still YA, have you read the Graceling trilogy by Kristin Cashore? They are fantasy, which for me can be a hit or miss genre. These books are a hit. Another idea might be to check out all the recent Newbery/Caldecott/etc. award winners.
