Stung

August 9, 2010

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have so many posts in mind related to our trip to England but I just haven't been able to get around to them. I am on day four of dealing with a nasty yellow jacket sting. I accidently sat on one while at the pool and had an extreme reaction. I have made two trips to ER in the past two days and I am continuing to deal with the reaction and all of the related medications which produce their own "fun" side effects. Note to self: look before sitting down because it can become a real pain in the butt (or in my case the upper thigh).

Oh how scary and horrible! Did you know you were allergic before? This happened recently to my step-mom... she was never allergic and then she got stung this summer and now has to carry an epipen :(
I hope you heal soon!

So sorry! This reminds me of the spider bite incident. I hope you can get some down time and lazy days reading and drawing in...that's always a good way to recover. Also, enjoy a summer when you're NOT moving and be glad you're not sorting.

Angi, yes, it has brought back some memories of that nasty spider incident. Yes to the reading, the painting, and I also have to admit to watching two entire seasons of Big Love. What a drama their lives are. Makes mine seem so tame. And yes, I am so glad we are not moving this summer. How is that going? Don't go crazy and give everything away. I know how you can get.

Boatbaby, I did know I have a bee allergy and I do carry an epipen, but things just aren't resolving quickly and it's starting to get to me. I hadn't been stung for many years. Got one bee sting last year and barely had a reaction so I thought it might be something I outgrew from childhood. But this yellow jacket sting was a very different story. Luckily no problems breathing, but extreme swelling and skin reaction on my leg. Now trying to prevent infection. Not fun at all and I ready to be back to my normal self.

I am so sorry! I hope you feel better soon. Thought of your family today as I discovered a really cute book series called This is (then fill in the city). I forgot the author, so I will have to look it up. It had old fashioned illustrations.

8 days later and I am finally starting to feel better. The wound is still healing and will take a while for full recovery, but getting off all of the meds has really made me feel so much better. Thanks for the well wishes.
