They are gorgeous! our family "mascot" is the turtle, and we have a red-eared slider - "dumbledore". My sister's turtle "Studs (turkle)" is here next to me in Texas -- he's like 25 years old! Wherever we go, we find a little collectible turtle representative of the art/culture of the region. Love it!

So cute. Please make sure everyone is very diligent about washing their hands well with soap and water after handling the turtles. Like chickens salmonella naturally occurs from them and would be on their shells. But you are such a good Mom that I bet you already knew all this.
Looks like we aren't alone in digging the turtles :)

And yes, Martha, we are being very diligent about the hand washing. It is nice to have kids who are not only old enough to follow through on that without constant prompting and also nice that they can do most of the pet care (feeding, cleaning, etc).
i have one and he grew to the size of my hand...they really smell...you have to keep them clean always! Cute but stinky
