Sicily's orange season is still in full swing. Lots of oranges for sale on the sides of small country roads. And even this super big orange which sells couscous, crepes, and grilled artichokes in addition to freshly squeezed orange juice. It's the closest thing to a drive-through that I have seen since moving here and although I occasionally crave Popeye's biscuits and chicken (sad to admit, but it's hard to get rid of my Louisiana cravings) I think this Sicilian version of roadside fast food is pretty amazing.

I LOVE IT! :-) Safe travels to see Jill...still sending them prayers and positive thoughts.
The food looks like Heaven. Enjoy your visit back here to the states.
That is the most amazing drive thru scene! Yummy!
Best wishes with your travels!
A couple of weeks ago I paid 10 Euro for a crate of clementines from a Sicilian on the side of the road! I don't regret a single penny, a single Euro penny. They were the best we've had all season.
I also bought his olive oil.
I'm so glad you stopped at that roadside stand! I noticed it for the first time (ever) yesterday and wanted to stop, but we were late to ballet. I hope they're still there next week!
Have a safe trip back to the USA. We'll miss you!
The food looks delicious! It sure is orange season here too, at the local little veg. shop you have a choice of oranges from Italy, Egypt or two local varieties from Malta.. and all are around 1 euro a kilo! Enjoy your trip back to the states, safe travels.
Ths looks good - especially those artichokes :) Hope you have a great trip!
Lucia, I love being brought back to Sicily through your photos. I'm thinking this is the same guy I snapped a photo of last winter (http://www.southofrome.com/2008/12/oranges-oranges-everywhere.html). Also looks like his prices came down! Must mean there are LOTS of oranges right now. I'm making due with the blood orange marmalade I made with my Siilian oranges before leaving Italy. I'm glad you'll be able to go visit your friend. I'm sure your being there will bring her comfort. Have a safe trip.- K
Good for you. Nothing better a loyal, reliable friend.
