A perfect, Sicilian, beach day. Over the weekend, we helped friends clean up the garden around their beach house and then we headed down the road to check out another beach. The beaches here vary so much, even just a few miles from each other (some sandy, some rocky), but the lure of the water never changes. Even though it was chilly, the kids couldn't resist jumping in the waves. And I couldn't blame them. It was tempting...but I couldn't pull myself away from the rocks and driftwood washed up on the beach. Hard to resist those magnetic forces that seem to draw us to the beach with all its wonders.

Looks like so much fun!
These pictures are amazing, Lucia! Someday I hope to see a beach like this!
Love the beach art! And the photos!
I love how magical the beach is even more so than just a swimming pool. There seems to be endless entertainment.
Oh, in regards to music I love these two groups. The first one is Salif Keita. http://new.music.yahoo.com/salif-keita/
The second is Rodrigo y Gabriel

I love to the second while doing house work. It give me so much energy.
In regards to Francis Mayes books. If you have seen the movie Under the Tuscand Sun, then when you read her book you will realize they changed so much to make it Hollywood. She was a professor at Berkley and writes poems. You will definately see this in her writting because it is hard to take the Acadmic out of her. Not a bad thing though. She loves to weave history, art, and life in Italy all together. I have had to look things up on the Internet to familiarize myself with what she is talking about. I enjoyed all of her Italy series, but this last one was my favorite. My only grip is that I wish when she talks about certain art pieces that the publisher would have included a picture for the reader to identify with.
My kids' magnetic force is also the water, and they have their fist dip of the season days and days before I dare to!
beautiful pictures!
It's indeed hard to resist! So beautiful and I love the shell arrangement. :)
Beautiful pictures. Love the found object art on the beach. Lovely.
Those photos would make anyone want to move to Sicily!
You are right -- the perfect day. Like the artwork.
I love the rocks and artwork, too. I always find it difficult to resist collecting a rock or two when I'm out at the beach. I've got jars and jars of rocks around the house, and they always remind me of happy days beach combing.
There is something magnetic about the sea and being on the coast -its that sense of freedom and space
I love the beach-as-art perspective!
