Just got back today from our trip to Belgium and The Netherlands. Will try to post more pics and details tomorrow but here is a glimpse from my favorite day of the entire trip. We spent most of our fourth day cycling through the beautiful Belgian countryside. Wonderful bike paths along canals filled with fishermen, water birds, pastoral views, windmills, and quaint towns...had us dreaming about moving to rural Belgium or at least returning with the kids in the future for a more extended stay. Happy to be back home with the kids and my mom, but also very happy to have had such a great anniversary escape.

Oh, how beautiful! I can't wait to see more photos. What a fabulous way to mark your anniversary. Did you make it to the Keukenhof? We spent Easter in Amsterdam some years ago - and seeing the tulip fields in bloom was a memory that is indelibly marked in my mind. Just awesome.
Wonderful photos, what a special trip--you are very lucky!
Awesome, glad you had a great time! Kathy and I never made it - clearly that was a mistake. And again, I love your photographic eye.
This looks like perfection. We are celebrating our 10th this year, I hope we find something as wonderful as this. If not, at least having a babysitter would be nice! ;)
Oh wow. Maybe we'll meet in Belgium. Looks just beautiful and a nice place to retire.
Jan
I was just thinking how your own personal map must be COVERED with pins!!! So awesome.
These pictures are gorgeous! How do you ever choose which ones to frame on the wall? *Do* you frame any? (all the moving, I imagine you keep your decorating to the minimum- I know I would!).
Happy Anniversary!
I love the one with the trees reflected in the water. You hear so often about people who move overseas and don't ever get out of their town...I am so excited that you guys are spending as much time traveling as you can!
Jeanette, we did make it to Keukenhof but sadly it wasn't the peak and the weather wasn't great...I was really sad about that.
Nancy, thanks. It really was a special trip. I feel lucky in many ways.
Manny, yes! you guys would love Bruges...maybe we can all do that trip together one day.
Lorraine, thank you. Happy Anniversary to you, too!
Jan, wouldn't that be fun to meet in Belgium? It would be a great place to retire. We were laughing at how many older couples flew past us on their bikes :)
Tisra, I am horrible about printing pics...in fact it has probably been a couple of years since I printed anything...must change that soon!
Jen, we always seem to travel more when living overseas...when we are back in the States we tend to use our vacation time for family visits but while overseas we really take advantage of our time and see as much as we can. There are so many places we have never seen in the States like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone...one day!
Beautiful! I showed these photos to my daughter, and she said, "that is so unfair!"
Looks wonderful!
Lovely photos! I am glad you had such a fantastic time. Holland always makes for great photos!
These are fantastic photos! I am hoping to make it to the Netherlands soon. Happy belated Anniversary!
Belgium really is an underrated country, isn't it? Love the windmills that are scattered around the countryside in B and NL.
