In the midst of all this research, I have been bookmarking quite a few military related travel discounts. Some are programs that we have used previously when living in the States and others are brand new. I have to admit that many times I forget to ask for a military discount (many stores and restaurants actually have them upon request), but these military perks are just too good to overlook (especially Blue Star Museums and the National Parks Pass). I am putting these here so I can remember them, but also in hopes that they will be of use to other military families. And please, please share any that you come across.
Passing this on to my army-wife sister :)
We are so excited about the Park Pass! What a great one. We also use the Home Depot/Lowes 10% off discount all the time. Now Old Navy does a discount every Monday. I also forget to ask but recently started too. I'm always surprised when I find out someone does and I had no idea (like Payless Shoes! hah). Can't wait to see you in DC!
You are going to have so much fun living in D.C. because there is just so much to see and to do. So, I am guessing that Sicily is a dry heat. Are you ready for snowsuits?
Excellent info -- Dad's retired Navy, I'll be he doesn't know about most of those links (so I'll be telling him).
One more really neat thing to think about for those evenings when you're in DC proper: the Millenium Stage project at the Kennedy Center; always changing, always FREE. Check it out on their website (where they also post videos of past performances):

We love the Blue Star Museum program. Took advantage of visiting a bunch of Philly area museums the summer before we came to Sicily!
So... when can we expect you here then? :)
