It's blood orange season here in Sicily and we are up to our eyeballs in oranges (sorry, couldn't resist the corny humor). And speaking of eyes and silly things, have you noticed the little photo trend that's been popping up in family photos lately? It started with Adam in Paris and it seems to be growing in popularity. It makes us all giggle. What's making you happy on these winter days?
beautiful pictures! We just bought some blood oranges at the store - I wanted to show the girls what they were. They were soo sour. Are they a grapefruit/orange cross? I bet the ones in Sisely are delish, nothing like the miserable grocery store produce.

I am surprised that the ones Katie bought were sour. I have always thought they were sweet. Maybe not as sweet as a naval, but not sour like a grapefruit. Love the photos!
Katy, there are actually several different varieties of blood oranges here in Sicily...with varying sizes, tastes and intensity of color, but in general all of them are pretty sweet and tasty. Sorry you got a sour batch....must mean you need to make a trip to Sicily to pick and sample your very own :)
the oranges look juicy and delicious.... i can smell the citrusy goodness. I'll be adding some oranges to the grocery list today :)
