The Second Night
December 22, 2008 • Believing, Celebrating
Putting Camille to sleep tonight she said "Thank you for Hanukkah"...it melted my heart and I said the same words to both of my children because I am truly grateful to them. Their excitement and awe is contagious. The last two nights have been good for all of us. We spent the first night listening to The Golden Dreydl, lighting the candles, eating matzah ball soup by candlelight, and opening little gifts. And tonight we added another candle, another dinner by candlelight, and some more Hanukkah stories. Thanks to all for the kind comments and continued support. I hope that you and your families are also surrounded by warmth, love, and hope this holiday season.

The photos are simply beautiful-- they exude peacefulness!
I love the pics of the kids by candlelight. Noah's glasses are so cute!
Oh my, what beautiful photos! That brings back memories of childhood. My best friend growing up was Jewish and I got to be with them when they lit the candles sometimes.
Thanks for sharing those special moments.
Oh, the pictures look so dreamy! Lovely.
How lovely!
Beautiful photos and your story touched my heart! I love Chanukah, too. Our family tradition is the last night we do a candlelight dinner by menorah candlelight. We are also adding a "gelt hunt" to our traditions this year. I'm using those big hollow plastic dreidels that have the tops that come off, and I'm putting chocolate gelt in some and really coins or a dollar bill (different in each one) & maybe some w/ Chanukah stickers, and then hiding around the room. Can't wait to see my little girl's reaction! We're saving that for our latke party this weekend so all our friends' kids can join in. Happy Chanukah! :)
I love the pictures too. I have a wonderful Jewish neighbor who is always helping me to learn and she actually brought some matza ball soup to my house last Friday night as she dropped off my daughter from a playdate. It was SO GOOD. I'm so glad you're having a peaceful time :)
